Mix #28: "A Perfect Day For Bananafish"

- The new Foo Fighters song 'Rope,' is amazing. It's nice to be excited about a veteran band still releasing good music.
- I am an Oasis fan; maybe it's because I'm a huge Beatles fan, but I think they came along when rock music needed a band that could shred or melt within your eardrums. I really enjoy 'Underneath The Sky.'
- The new Fleet Foxes album is going to be...wait for it...legendary.
- I'm on a (The) Doors kick lately. Just finished reading Jim Morrison: Life, Death, Legend. A great drunken blur of vocals over R&B grooves. 'The Changeling,' is an awesome song.
- I remember hearing Cake's 'The Distance' on WBCN's Top 5 at 8pm (or was it 9pm?) in 6th or 7th grade. Is it weird that I also remember Marilyn Manson's 'The Beautiful People,' and Limp Bizkit's 'Counterfeit,' also being on the list? Anyway, Cake's new album, 'Showroom of Compassion,' is excellent; highly recommended.

Mix #27: "New England Clam Chowder"

- Valencia takes the old essence of pop punk and puts a little edgier spin on it. Catchy as hell.
- Matt Pryor released 'Dear Lover' on his first solo album, 'Confidence Man,' but it was originally intended for a New Amsterdams' song. Although I enjoy the acoustic guitar/vocal version, I prefer the full band version.
- A lot of people stopped caring about Guster once they went a little more rock n' roll. I enjoyed it very much. As much as I love the old school band (two acoustic guitars and hand drums) I think they keep the true vibe of their music going. 'Come Downstairs and Say Hello,' is one of my favorite songs of theirs.

Mix #26: "K.K.T.Y.: Tiger Radio"

- Alkaline Trio are a great band. I always liked Matt Skiba's voice a lot better Dan Andriano's. But when 'Good Mourning' came out, Skiba's voice was shot and Andriano's got much, much better. One of his best songs.
- Dessa continues to make me fall in love with her. Not only are her lyrics insightful and deep, but she's easy on the eyes as well.
- 'Insignificance' is one of the greatest songs to hear live. Pearl Jam have really never been one for stage shows, which I've always appreciated about them. But right after the lyrics, "Turn the jukebox up," he said. Dancing in irreverence. Plays C3. Let the song protest," they go silent and the venue goes dark. A high hat click and they all come back in. Simple, but effective.

Mix #25: "All That And A Bag Of Chips"

This mix is for people who are approximately my age (27) and listened to the radio and attended middle school/high school dances. I realize a few of these songs are newer (Kevin Lyttle, T-Pain, and Ne-Yo) but those few still sustain the vibe and pack the punch of awesome late 80's-early 90's R&B. Fond memories of listening to Mix 94.5 and Kiss 108 on the way home from Watson Park on warm summer nights. Even falling asleep to Dave Allen Boucher on Magic 106.7. I feel it is highly enjoyable.

Any songs stick out? First kiss? First slow dance? Leave a comment and let me know.

Two For Friday: Mix #22: "Burger Manifesto" and Mix #23: "Meet Me In Mantauk"

- 2 songs to commemorate the life of Nate Dogg.
- The Spindle song is one of my favorites. Funny story: Went to Skate and Surf Fest in Jersey with Mark and Ed. Spindle was playing the theater stage at the same time Taking Back Sunday was playing the main stage. I had seen Taking Back Sunday quite a few times, so I watch the first few songs and left (by myself) to see Spindle's set. That was the last time all the original members of TBS played together; since then they've reunited, but at the time, I was pissed. Ah well....Spindle's set was still good.
- The Recess Theory song reminds me of Mark...and Nintendo 64. It was off a split with Further Seems Forever when Chris still sang for them.
- The Oasis song, 'I Hope, I Think, I Know,' it one of my favorite songs of all time. 'Be Here Now (The Cocaine Album)' got a lot of flack for not being that great, but I have fond memories of it. 'Don't Go Away,' was the pushing point for many a make-out/heavy petting sessions.
- No More Kings = hilarious rock n' roll. Just watch this video.

- Ette is a folkish/rock group from my hometown. They are great guys I was lucky enough to play shows with them in my old band.
- The year or so I worked at Strawberries was miserable. Crappy pop music with a crappy clientele. My manager was really into metal and industrial music; his favorite group of all time was Ministry if that helps paint a better picture. I never really got into it, minus In Flames and Celldweller. This song is awesome; very cool production value. This song was also featured in a great audio sci-fi book called 7th Son.
- Crowned Heron is friend from Pennsylvania's group. The boy can sing and play guitar; no doubt  about it. Definitely worth checking out.
